Bangladesh Garden Salad

Why this salad?

This Bangladesh garden salad is a traditional accompaniment to their morog polao.  The ingredients are easy to find, infact, you may already have them in your pantry, and this can be done in just a few minutes.

Ingredients of garden salad

I like the look of the julienned vegetables made more attractive by the varied colors.  What is more interesting is the taste! You can just imagine how the carrot, cucumber, radish, onion and tomato are all different from each other in taste! When put together and topped with the pungent coriander and sprinkled with lemon dressing, there is nothing like it.

How to prepare Bangladesh Garden Salad

What you have here are the basic ingredients of Bangladesh garden salad. Just julienne them all and mix, then sprinkle with lemon, a dash of sugar and salt, and there you go!  You can opt to cut the vegetables differently.

I have also seen a variation in the dressing where mustard is added which I tried (anything else I haven’t tried anyway?) and it gives a different kind of satiation in the mouth. What I particularly remember are the strong tastes of mustard and radish that seem to attempt to tame one another.

This salad can be eaten by itself, and is healthy.
