Sauteed Ground Beef with Cauliflower, Carrots and Broccoli



If you have tried my previous recipe for ground beef with oyster sauce, this is a bit similar, however simpler as it is without the oyster sauce, and the choices of vegetables different. It would be a matter of preference because the oyster sauce is an added enhancer to dishes.

If you are looking for healthy recipes, this ground beef with cauliflower recipe is healthy and family-friendly. From the ground beef itself, you will have enough proteins your body needs, while the cauliflower can be a substitute for rice, therefore you can have a serving of this recipe by itself for a complete meal and skip the rice. Having said that, this is still perfect as a topping for steamed white rice or as an accompaniment for any fried rice. Cauliflower is a basic ingredient for keto diets and a vehicle for losing weight without the feeling of being denied your cravings for carbohydrates. I doubted that statement for a while being a rice-lover myself, but cauliflower indeed can satiate your taste buds and cheat your brain (isn’t this what they say recently about losing weight?) There are two basic ingredients in this recipe – ground beef and cauliflower. However, by choice, I added carrots and broccoli as extenders and to add color to the dish. Yeah, with ground beef and cauliflower alone, this dish would give you all that you need – nutrients and satisfaction. 


How to cook ground beef and cauliflower 

Just saute garlic onions in a pan, add ground beef and caulifowers and you are good to go after adding a bit of salt and ground black pepper. Cook for a few minutes over medium heat or until the vegetable is cooked through and it is done. The vegetable extenders can be added along with the cauliflower – pre-boiled or not, this should work.


How to serve sauteed ground beef with vegetables

A bowl of this dish is enough as a complete meal. Alternatively, this dish can be consumed as it is, over steamed white rice or any fried rice. This will also work with dinner rolls, or flatbreads.


Storing/Keeping leftovers

I am confident that unless you double or triple the recipe given here, there is no need to worry about leftovers as you would definitely finish this meal in one go. Having said that, leftovers can be kept in covered containers in the fridge for two days. Reheat them in the microwave for about 3 minutes, or in a pan over medium heat; stir until heated through. 


Cooking tips:

Adding a small chopped tomato during the sauteing process will add juiciness to the dish.

Lean ground beef can make this dish healthier. Add a bit of water anytime in the cooking process if you feel that the dish is becoming dry.

Pieces of diced potatoes can also be added here as extenders. That would add some starch in the dish, if you are using this as a diet item, though.  Same with tortilla chips at serving time.

Garlic powder can be added during the last step of cooking, especially if you are deleting fresh garlic in the beginning. 

Sprinkle with shredded cheese on top for added enhancement in the taste. Another flavor enhancer such as MSG is an option, but not necessary.


Sauteed Ground Beef with Cauliflower, Carrots and Broccoli

  • 250 g minced chicken (or chicken breast cut up)
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 small-sized onion chopped
  • 1 small-sized tomato chopped
  • 2 tbsps cooking oil
  • Salt and ground black pepper to taste
  • 1 piece medium-sized carrot julienned
  • ½ head broccoli cut up
  • ½ cauliflower cut up
  • cup ½water


  1. Sautee garlic, onion and tomato (in that order) in cooking oil for a couple of minutes
  2. Add chicken breast and cook stirring until the juices come out.
  3. Add carrots, broccoli and cauliflower. Stir for a couple of minutes.
  4. Add salt, pepper and water and simmer till vegetables are done.
